After checking in with my Dr., ten days after surgery, I asked about seeing him again. No, he said, not necessary. This seems strange since I had no pulse in the ER. Prior to surgery. Is this normal not to have a cardiologist? I appreciate all the help from this site.

follow up

I am 47 and on my 3rd PM. I as well do not see a cardiologist for pacemaker reasons. I go to the pacemaker clinic every 6 months and telephone monitor every 3 months. A NP does all the checking and adjusting for my PM. If i have anything going on with my heart (outside of PM issues) in example: chest pain, palpitations, etc; i do make an appointment with a cardiologist. Best wishes and good luck with the Pacemaker.

Seeing the Doc

I agree with the last poster. Your doc obviously has confidence that you are "fixed". You should feel good about that! In fact; if he wanted to see you sooner, that could be something to be concerned about. So just go and enjoy your life.
It is quite normal to have pacer checks spaced 6 months apart and doctor visits once every year or two early-on with a new pacemaker.
Sincerely,
David
See him never?

I understand he doesn't need to see you right away or constantly, but didn't he suggest that you come in every six months or so?
You know you're wired when...
You have a shocking personality.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
No need !

Hi Brooklyn You had no pulse in ER but you have a pulse now ! Your PM is so reliable that it guarantees that your heart will beat 24 / 7 so really there is no need for you to see your cardiologist again.
I don't know which country you are in but you will need to see whoever adjusts the PM . I assume, the system for that follow-up will have been explained to you. Here in the UK this is done by highly qualified cardiac technicians .
I haven't seen a cardiologist or any other doctor, about pacemaker-related issues in the 5 years since I had it implanted .
I feel quite relaxed about that as pacemakers are incredibly reliable . If ever you need to see a Dr they are always just a telephone call away.
Best of luck
Ian
