Mike 1943

A brief thank you to the four guys who responded so quickly to my not coping comment. You are so correct, I have to follow up my cardiac unit as the responses from my GP so far this year have been utterly u/s.
Never having been ill in my life before this has all been one shock, so thanks to you all and I am so glad to have your thoughts- and yes, sadly no golf- yet, but here's hoping though 6 down to scratch is I think out of the question!!
So pleased this site is here. Brilliant.
Sun not shining here in Cornwall either David!!

You still can

You still can golf, just not yet. After the wound heals you should start back on your putting game. Most golfers need to work on that. (Most won't admit it.)

Keep walking. People in the UK walk more than those in the US. But get out there and keep moving.

You'll want to drink more water. The pacemaker ups your heart rate, which means you breath faster, which makes you need more water. I took 1/2 liter per 33 pounds weight per day.

Yeah, it's a big shock when the body betrays you but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Hope everything else goes well for you. Hang in there. It gets better.

Shock

Yes Mike, I can relate totally to you saying that to receive the PM was such a big shock, the same for me, as I also have never ever been ill and had thought that I was 100% healthy! But it is exactly as Theknotguy, above, says. The people on this forum have given me great encouragement when I was so terribly down in the dumps after my PM in September... I was even afraid to drive my own car. These pacemaker friends assured me that everything will get better and I think I am at a better place now.....the emotional adjustment was even more difficult than the physical.

I do not know about golf, but I have gone back to my pilates, reformer, in November. My cardiologist has said, however, that I should not do my arm exercises on the reformer for a year. My personal trainer has been giving me rehabilitation exercises for my arm(s) and I do my normal leg execises on reformer machine and treadmill exactly as I used to. I have a vague suspicion that my excellent cardiologist has the approach of handling me with care though, and I love it haha!!!

In conclusion I can say that, as these PM friends assure us, everything does get better. Though, truth to tell I would rather that I did not need PM ,but I think it was Theknotguy or PJ , that said to me, that pacemaker is the difference between being alive or not! So, all the best, also for your golfing!

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.
