pacing

If your heart is beating too slowly, it will not go away on its own and there are no medications that will help. The only fix is a pacemaker. Doesn't matter how old you are, your body needs oxygen to function. The questions is how low is your rate. If you are not feeling well, and you are sure it's due to a low heart rate, then a pacer will help you feel better.

I needed one as a teenager but I got by ok so my drs didn't want to do the surgery. I finally got it when I was 27. I was always tired and dizzy, never able to do sports. Now, I feel great and can do whatever I want. In hindsight,I wish I'd gotten it as soon as I started to have symptoms. I missed a lot of years of fun because the drs wanted to wait.

Read 2229's Bio !

Hello 2229 I see that you already have a pacemaker and that you live in India.

If I understand you correctly , you are not feeling as well as you expected to be after having a PM . You now think that the original diagnosis may have been wrong.

That is possible but unlikely, only another appointment with a doctor will answer that for you. You need another E.C.G,

If your diagnosis is bradycardia ( slow resting heart rate) then a pacemaker is the ONLY treatment

It is also possible that the pacemaker settings may need adjusting. I hope that this is easy for you to arrange in your part of India

Best of luck

Ian

2nd opinion

by Grateful Heart - 2015-10-03 02:10:08

That's what I did. I am much older than you but I thought they must be wrong, I never had a heart condition...so I went for another opinion. The 2nd Cardio confirmed what the first one said. It helped me to start to accept it.....which is hard to do at first, not to mention it's a shock.

I explained to my sons and I've said it here before for comparison, some people wear eyeglasses to help their vision, some wear a hearing aid to help their hearing and we need a pacemaker or ICD to help our hearts.

So all good advice above....get a 2nd opinion and listen to TraceyE too. :-) She's been at this a very long time.

If you need it, learn all you can about your condition and device. It will help to ease your mind. Read through the past posts here and ask questions. Most fellow pacers here are kind, knowledgeable and understanding.

You'll be ok.

Diagnosis

by Good Dog - 2015-10-03 11:10:16

You simply need to get a couple of opinions from doctors representing separate hospitals and medical practices. The point is; if you can find two doctors that do not work together or better yet, do not know each other, you'll have two opinions to compare. If they both recommend a pacemaker, then it is pretty safe to assume that you need one.
Do not worry, a pacemaker will actually make your life so much better! You will be glad you got it! It is normal to be concerned, but you'll find it is an easy operation and you can live a completely normal life afterwards. NO more of those troubling symptoms.
I wish you the very best!

My ECG and holter shows heart 1.5 seconds ideal.
But doctor told nothing to worry over a period of time it will be ok,with out any treatment.when i went after a month with severe head ace ,he suggestd PM basing old ECG report with out taking latest ECG.I have taken second opinion ,advised to have one.
Any way now my body implanted with PM.
Is there any solution to get rid of this PM?.My PM costs 3 hundred thousnd indian rupies./ 5000 dollars
at least i may need 5 more surgeries i future.
Please guide me
