i had a pacemaker fitted in September due mainly to long pauses in my heartbeat at night combined with Afib palpitations. I get along ok with it during the daytime and am swimming and walking everyday. During the evening however when at rest I am finding my heart rhythmn uncomfortable at 60, some big beats make me feel as if I am on a swaying ferry......this makes relaxation difficult. When I go to bed eventually everything settles nicely. Any advice?

Thank you for this, it could make all the difference. i have always kept fiit and think that my natural heart beat was slower than 60. i will ask my consultant but getting answers and advice takes so long and this condition requires such patience that I don't have!

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
I thing you can discuss with EP

I think you can discuss with your EP and get him to reduce the BPM at which you are set. At the very least you can have a discussion and see why they have you set at 60 and if it's necessary. I know some people on the forum have had their BPM reduced to the 50's. 60 is kinda the default rate for most people.
Before having the rate reduced, I'd try to find out if there is a reason for the setting and if there is a good reason for having it set that way.
Hope you can get a solution soon.
