I want to purchase a bracelet or pendant medical alert. Which do you recommend? Is one better than the other?

Pendant vs Bracelet

According to my Firefighter / EMT son, either is fine as long as it is visible and does not resemble costume type jewelry.
He said if it looks like a med alert piece they'll notice it, but they don't look at fashion jewerly to see if it is a med alert.
Had your question before

We've had your question before. About a year an a half ago there was a long discussion on the forum about medical ID's. One half said they were life savers, the other half said they didn't do any good. So it pretty much comes down to how you feel about the device.
I've gone with American Medical ID who has advertised on this site. They're a little pricey, but they've also got a good selection. The wife and I have both the necklace and and arm band. When we travel we wear both and carry written instructions with our passports. When we were on a tour in the UK, quite a few people on the tour were wearing some kind of medical ID. (Musta been traveling with a real sick group.)
One guy said he woke up in the hospital lying on the ID and no one knew anything. I've decided to err on the side of caution and wear one all the time. I've already tempted fate twice and don't want to do it again.
Hope you find something that works for you.

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
Bracelet

I got my bracelet on ebay. There is a huge selection with lots of engraving options at very reasonable prices. I put mine on 9 months ago and never take it off. I never even know it is there because it is so comfortable. Sometimes I am reminded it is there when a grocery clerk acts very concerned and asks if I need help carrying what I consider to be a tiny package. The less clutter on the bracelet, the better. Just stick with a light weight but strong chain and a plate with slightly rounded edges, one that can be left on in the shower, swimming etc. I think that bracelets are more visible and a better option. It would bother me to have a necklace sliding around.
