New to the Party

Hi all,

Next week I will be getting my first pacemaker placed. I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous as heck, but really am looking forward to the possibility of feeling better. I've been passing out for about 10 years now. I've tried multiple medications to try and stabilize my HR and now it's come to this. I'm only 28 years old so the idea of a pacer is rather frightening but I have confidence in my Dr that this is the right choice. Here's to pacing and feeling better!

I'll be getting my fourth next month. I just turned 38 when I received my first. So with almost 30 years experience I can tell you that you will appreciate having it. As the previous post said, after a little while you'll forget it is there.
It should be a gratifying experience.................

Good luck !

I have NCS which caused passing out, seizures and HR went so low they put in a pacemaker. I am on my 2nd one no problems. I still like to ask a lot of questions over the years, but that's why this site is here.

and take heart! You will soon be feeling better. As many on this site have said before, a PM makes your heart more predictable (and that's something the non-PM-wearing world cannot claim).

Just remember to take it easy, follow your doc's instructions, and don't hesitate to ask plenty of questions until you understand the whys and wherefores.

Good luck and let us know how it went!
