Hi all,
I am searching for women who are or have been pregnant and whose babies have been diagnosed with heart block in utero. I am currently almost 32 weeks pregnant and my baby was diagnosed with 2:1 heart block. I'm getting monitored closely and I guess we won't know anything for sure about baby's treatment until he or she comes into the world. Anyone willing to share their experiences with me? I'm worried about next few weeks. Hoping baby can make it until 37 weeks.
Thank you :)

My baby was delivered at 31 weeks and got a pacemaker at 2 days old. He got his new device at 5 years old and is now 9 years old in little league baseball and a healthy, growing boy...still pacemaker dependent. Every day is a miracle. Hope that gives you some hope in the event that your baby does need a pacemaker.

How is your baby doing now? Did you get to 37 weeks?
Both of my children have heart block and pacemakers. They are 9 & 10 years old and lead very normal, active, happy lives. I hope the same for you!

hi, completely understand how you feel, scared as hell...
my daughter was diagnosed as 20weeks scan, we had then scans at least twice a week. hear block progressed from 2nd to 3rd degree. she was almost delivered at 29weeks when they saif there was some fluid in her belly, i was ready for c-section and they got a second opinion from another hospital and they said that it looks like it was d until 38 weeks. planned c-section, a great team of people around and: no need for operation, she was doing fine, 9 points out fo 10. taken to NICU, connected to all these wires but after 12 hours they asked me if it's ok if they disconnect them cos she seems to be doing fine and keeps ripping them out and setting the alarm on :) clever girl. after 2 days I was with her in nicu bedroom, doing brilliantly. on 5th day we were discharged.
now my daughter is 4.5 years old, active, happy, clever girl. we keep going to hospital fro checkups twice a year now but so far no indication for pacemaker!
will pray for you tonight for happy delivery x
You know you're wired when...
You run like the bionic woman.

heart block in pregnancy

Hi, my baby was diagnosed when i was 24 weeks pregnant! found at a routine midwife appointment, as midwife couldnt tell the difference between my heart rate and babies, i was rushed into hospital and countless tests done and sure enough she was diagnosed with complete heart block at 24 weeks. it is such a scary time i know but think positive thoughts, i was told to prepare for her being paced immediately after birth and she is almost a year old and no pacemaker yet! her heart rate has slowed but shes asymptomatic and my absolute world shes wonderful. i had a section at 38+3 weeks she came out screaming her head off, and i saw her for a few seconds before the cardiac team took her away. it was very hard but it was what was best for her. its hard taking home a baby with a heart condition, id prepared myself for her having a pacemaker right away and as yet it still hasnt happened, it does play on your mind its only natural, but these heart babies are amazing, im so overcome with how strong mine is. good luck with everything! x
