Prostate MRI with PM

I have an appointment with an urologist due to elevated PSA. I am told that an MRI is a preferred non-invasive screen in evaluating the prostate. I know that will not be an option for me. Has anyone faced this situation and, if so, what was done to get prostate information non-invasively. Thanks.

There are some facilities that can safely do mri's on pacemakers. Not every hospital can do it, not that many doctors have patients who have had it done, so you may have to do some research, but more and more places can do it.

What do you have?

What do you have? Do you have the MRI compatible PM with compatible leads? If so, no problems with the prostate MRI. It's far enough away from the PM so it won't be affected.

Even if you don't have the compatible PM, you still may be able to have the MRI because they'll be so far away from the PM.

You'll want to contact your EP and let the other doctors know what you have. There have also been changes in MRI systems too so we don't have as many problems as earlier.

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!
