Today's the Day

In a few hours I will be getting my first pacemaker inserted. I'm really nervous. I found this site this morning- I am so glad. Now I have a resource for my questions. I'm 42 and was diagnosed with CHF after my pregnancy.

Welcome to our little group. You are likely to notice significant improvement in your quality of life after the implant. Given that you have a child at home, your recovery may be a little more challenging (you'll probably be instructed not to drive for two weeks, not to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of milk with the arm on your PM side for 6-8 weeks, not to lift that arm above your head for same period of time). All of these things represent a challenge when you have a child to take care of.

Sparrow gave you lots of good advice so I won't repeat that...only to say treat yourself with kindness and don't push it. You'll probably feel tired and possibly emotional as you recover; that's normal. Give in to the urge to sleep when it hits you (some may say sleep when the baby sleeps, but I know that's not always convenient).

Let us know how you do! Thinking of you today!

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.
