I remember a long time, when I first got my pacemaker, the doc told me no decongestants. I was wondering, anyone with Neuro Cardiogentic Syncope use decongestants. I am hurtin in Northwest New Jersey with allergies and full-time stuffy nose.

I have vasovagal syncope (possibly POTS) and I take decongestants (such as meds containing pseudoephedrine) if I need them.
But when I take them i DO also make sure im really hydrated, and I tend to not drive just to be on the safe side.
however, if its evening, sometimes ill just take a benedryll instead. often i can get a similar symptom relief without the worry

When I have a nasty head cold or my allergies or sinuses are acting up - I treat it with NetiPot. No side effects from that.
Also - try breathe right strips when you sleep.
Hope this helps,
Pookie

Hi lahbigbro6,
I too have been diagnosed with CNS recently or Vasovagal Syncope, it depends on what doctor you see.
I've never been told to stay away from decongestants, but advised to always make sure your well hydrated.
I take decongestants everytime I fly, with no ill effects.
Hope you're not suffering too much.
