Stomach pain & heart block?

Hi there,

My daughter had stomach pain for many months before being diagnosed with 3rd degree AV block and pacemaker implant 2 years ago. She rcvd a single lead pacemaker due to her small artery size but her stomach pain improved, it has never gone away. She had tons of stomach testing. scope and colonoscopy that came back normal. She has grown quite a bit and now needs her pacemaker replaced and new leads put in for dual chamber. I was just curious if anyone has experienced stomach pain and if it could be related to her heart block? Dr's say her heart will work more efficiently once she receives the dual chamber.

I've had a PM for about 18 months and the improvement of my stomach "issues" has been the best part of being paced. I asked my cardiologist why my stomach was better and he said he suspected better blood flow to that organ.

The back story to my stomach began around age 10. Sudden horrible stomach pain followed by diarrhea, followed by feeling like a wet rag for several more hours was typical. It was not daily but probably weekly.

Fast forward to age 45ish. Troubles with my stomach were increasing as were the tests. Nothing was ever found except H-pyloric for which I was treated without a change.

But I was getting worse! Not only would my diarrhea be preceded by intense abdominal pain, I also began to vomit with each episode.

And then came the PM. I have barely experienced any stomach problems since my Friend for Life came to live in me! It feels like a miracle.

For the record, I'm now 57, and have complete heart block. I'm 100% paced in both chambers with a dual lead PM. I am grateful everyday for the PM and the incredible improvement to my stomach issues.

Dual chamber

My daughter never complained of stomach pains when she had an abdominal pacemaker. However, she was more aware of the pacemaker when in her abdomen.

We did notice an mprovement in her heart function when she changed to a dual chamber. I hope that your daughter has the same improvements when she receives her replacement.
