I was hired on at a hospital for a really great job, but I'll have to use a floor buffer/finisher. Ive heard this could disconnect my leads.
I really need this job. Thoughts? Advice
Thanks!

In 2011 they replaced the leads and battery. My pacemaker is in my abdomen as I had it put in when I was 10.
Just so scared cuz I really want this job.
Buffer not a problem

Just answered a post about person wanting to do woodworking and using power tools. I run all the power tools in the woodshop. Not a problem.
I have a Medtronics. They have a page on possible problems with power tools. Their comment is to keep the power tool 6 to 12 inches away from the PM. Their numbers are conservative. What that means is in most cases, you would have to be hugging the electric motor as it was running before there could possibly be a problem with the PM.
I put out a previous post where I forgot about my PM and was leaning on a running DeWalt power drill while it was running. It was directly on my PM. No problems.
I run a 220 volt table saw at the woodshop. Once again, no problems. Have had to check the saw and the 220 volt motor was running within a foot of my PM. No problems.
So, as I stated before, you'd probably have to be hugging the 110 volt power buffer while it was running for it to be a problem with the PM. I think if you were holding a running power buffer within six inches of your PM you'd have other problems besides the possible effects to the PM.
Enjoy running the buffer.
THANK YOU!

Buffer use?
by rossjackson01 - 2015-05-14 03:05:24
Can't see how this would affect you. When I had my PM inserted last week, the staff came in with a buffer and did all the floor, and the aisles outside. There were 2 of us lying on our beds and they buffed underneath. For you own peace of mind, why not ring a local hospital and ask?
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
