...& with what calibre rifle? If all you hunt is white tail deer & not at extreme ranges like you find out west, you can give up the .30-06 & .308 & the like & switch to a .257 Roberts. Recoil is almost non-existent & the projectile is just as effective. The secret is to become more proficient at firing & hitting where you aim. Besides, who likes to track wounded animals through the brush?

Moose & Mulies in rugged, open long range shots is another colored horse. (And horses are not legal game. )

If You must go high powered, by all means have the PM placed on the right - neither it nor your heart cares where it resides. If the PM works w/ a long lead on the left shoulder of a tall man, it will work on the right shoulder of a woman with the same lead.

Left handed

I'm left handed and my first pm's were placed on my right side. The last two were placed on my left side, and the cardiologist told me that the reasoning for placing the first pm's on my right side was so I could shoot a gun. He stated that the thought now was that the pm's could take the force of the recoil, with no ill effects.

That said, I believe it was a good idea to have it placed on your right side. I don't see why it would be painful since the gun will be on your right shoulder.

I am an ex-hunter so I suggest if you're scared of using a high powered rifle use a knife, You may not bag as much game but you'll get a lot more exercise.

Seriously, there is no need to worry. Enjoy your life and good hunting.
