Nasty stuff

You don't say in your bio if you are taking any other heart meds. That can be a factor.

I have to stay away from aspartame. The stuff is poison to
me. Headaches, aches, flushed, rapid breathing, heart kicks off, all sorts of stuff.

Now that I'm on heart meds I stay completely away from any diet drink stuff.

Only drink water. When it gets tiring. If I want to spice it up I'll add lemon juice.

In my opinion I still don't know why aspartame is on the market.

Do your drinks contain caffeine? That can sometimes cause the heart to race.

For What It's Worth

Aspartame doesn't seem to bother me. HOWEVER, just because it doesn't bother me, doesn't mean it won't bother the next guy. It's interesting what causes arrhythmias and AF. Sugar is what seems to do it to me unless I've already had a lot of other food and/or protein prior to ingesting it.

just say no

Yes, aspartame can mess with your heart rate. Or if the soda has caffeine that could be the culprit. There are a lot of reasons to avoid aspartame, nasty stuff!

Thanks all for the aspartame comments. Yes I do take addl heart meds - a beta blocker and amiodorone (which in and of itself has a lot of side effects). In the future I shall avoid aspartame like the plague.
