Hello, I'm new and trying to study up. I have had a medtronics revo sure scan pacemaker installed for two years. I have been going downhill ever since. Before it was installed the ef ratio was 65% and I was 68 years old with no other problems. I developed a irregular heartbeat and in feb of 2013 I passed out with low heart rate. The cardiologist had tested me and decided in december of 2012 things were ok until I fainted in feb. He put the pacemaker in the first of march 2013. On the subsequent follow ups about every 4 months with the technicians and a doctor followup every 6 months the ef is now 30%. I have felt weak, tired, light headed, and short winded for two years. I have printed out the sheets on the revo sure scan from google and there are lots of adjustment catagories. I have never gotten any sort of printout from the cardiologist. I have given up on this cardio. group and started with another. They want to install the st jude Quadra Asura. I have studied it some it seems to be way more adjustable than the medtronic. The problem is it's NOT mri compatable. The surgery is scheduled for 3/25, it has taken me almost a month to get the type and model from the folks to research the product so not much time to decide. To me mri's are very important in diagnosing problems inside our bodies. The medtronic either was not configurable or the technicians were not good enough to fix my heart and the doctors were too busy to figgure it out. I was prescribed spironolactone 25mg and carvedilol 6.25 to make my heart stronger. You double the carvedilol every 6 weeks. The medicine seems to make me feel worse.
Does anyone know of any new developments in mri use with newer crt-d pacemakers?
I will need to study this more.

Try to concentrate on how youre able to be active again and feel normal, rather than on having a machine stuck in your body.
MRI-safe CRT-D

Biotronik is so far the only manufacturer offering MRI safe CRT-D devices. I know they have approval within the EU for these, the CE mark, but I think that they do not have FDA approval, yet. Might have submitted their devices for FDA approval, but getting through the FDA process just takes a long time.
I have commented on heart failure and right ventricular pacing in a different thread, might be of interest for you, too:

Hope that you get better soon!
