Brand new (3/9/15) pacer here! This has happened so fast that I am still trying to process it all. Woke up Sunday morning from a dream that I had been shot in the chest and boy, that just didnt feel right at all. I think my description is what prompted the admitting Dr (The Contractor) to call a cardiologist (the Plumber), who wanted to keep me overnight to take one more enzyme test. 4:30 am, the nurse comes flying in, calling my name, checking my leads, and doing her best to not alarm me. By noon, the plumber had sent over the electrician, who snatched my yummy cardio friendly lunch off my tray and said, here we go, sister. By two, my work had sent a freaking funeral spray over to the hospital. The Contractor admitted that I might have dropped dead very soon, if not sooner. Anyway, here I am, ready to get going with the rest of my life!

In a very short space of time you will get used to your new friend. I am on my third ICD. The first was implanted in 1998 and here I am 17 years later enjoying life to the full.I have just passed my 78th birthday. All the very best to you

Hi Capot,
It is amazing that your post is so cheerful and powerful for someone like me who just had PM installed two days ago.
It is hard for me to accept this reality but I have to learn to accept it and be thankful that I am safe.
Thank you sister, wish you a speedy recovery!

You've come to the right spot for lots of good information and support. There are some very knowledgeable people here who can help walk you through your journey as a new Pacemaker recipient. Most of us are so very grateful for the new lease on life we have been given. Best wishes for your continued healing and well being. I experienced one of those cardiac events myself and have had my PM now 3 1/2 months.
