Hello! I'm excited to have found this group and such a wealth of information. I'm an active 52y/o female who received my DL/RR pacemaker 8 days ago for bradycardia/ SSS. I have had 5 ablations and 3 cardioversions for tachycardias over the past 20 yrs. The slow rhythms began less than 2 yrs ago, so I have had much to adjust to and learn since then. My father (now deceased ) had a single lead PM and then a DL w/ defibrillator. Due to that, I wasn't fearful of the PM surgery/recovery and was more familiarized with what I was getting into than lots of patients. I understand the general workings of implanted devices but have much to learn about the fine details. I'm grateful to see that so many members here seem readily willing to help and teach others. That makes it easier for me to plan on asking for information. I know my PM is my new Best Friend, and I am excited to finally have one. I return to work on Tuesday, with restrictions. Looking forward to getting my life back and to meeting you all. ~Jane

Help! I'm Drowning in....

....data. Jane, you have overwhelmed us in useful info. Usually water boarding will not get that out of our members!
Thank you very much for the excellent Hx.
Glad to have you aboard!
Having lived a couple yrs in Iowa, I know a little about hog raising. Knew a bunch of hog farmers there. Just enough to understand why Dorothy's farmhand friend was excited when she was walking along the rail of the hog pen.
From your comment about your father dying w/ a PM w/ Defib. I'm guessing he died rather young, based on your age & the advent of that technology.
Glad to have you aboard. Don't tell me that you have a pet chimp...

Didn't mean to drown you, Donr--nor anyone else! Aww, well : / Nope, no chimp for me, lol. With years of medical intervention, my dad lived to be 76. His father only made it to 66. I got the cross-wiring from them, but was spared all their heart plumbing issues. Thanks for your interest. ~Jane
You know you're wired when...
You have the perfect reason to show off your chest.

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
