The next week!
by brushmore - 2015-02-08 07:02:27
I had mine put in on a Friday and was working on Monday! Well not really. First I work in front of a computer all day. Also, it really only was for an hour or so a day to read/answer emails. So it wasn't anything challenging for the first week.
But in general it really took me 6 weeks before I really felt back to normal.
Not long

Had my PM implanted on Wed, and returned to work the following Monday. Yes I took it easy and watched my left arm movement, which is rather difficult as a welder. First interrogation, leads still in place, and no problems to speak of.

I had mine put in on a Friday and I was back to work that Tuesday. I'm 43 and fairly active, but took it easy and worked a shortened schedule and at my home office desk most of that week. If it were up to my EP, I would have taken off that whole first week!
for me

Hi,
I had mine put in on a Wednesday night and doctor's orders I was out that week and the next week. Even when I went back in I was wiped out. I have an hour for lunch, took a pillow and napped at lunch. It worked for me. (I'm 55)

Depends

Depends upon a lot of things. You didn't give us much info in your bio so I'll give general info.
Depends upon previous heart problems, how you react to the implant, how you adjust to the PM, how you react to medications at the time of implant, how you react to medications given to you after implant, and any medications to control heart problems after implant.
Some people are up and running after a couple of days, others take a couple of weeks, others go for a month, others for months. On this forum we go all over the spectrum so it's not like Lasix surgery where you get it in the AM, go home in the PM, and are up and running the next day.
If you are athletic and are in good shape other than your heart you'll heal faster and be up sooner. If you are a couch potato you will (generally) be down longer.
Some people aren't bothered by the implant site, others have a lot of pain because of stretching and pulling.
For some the PM implant scar heals quickly, for others it takes a longer time.
General rule is 4-6 weeks for PM implant scar to heal and the PM pocket to heal. You have to make sure the scar is clean so it heals quickly.
Oh, and all bets are off if you get an infection at or in the implant site. Then it will take as long as it takes for the infection to be cleared up.
I do hope everything goes well for you.
