Today is my "Birthday!"

Well, my pacer and I turned one today! Hurray! My husband was so cute...he gave me a "birthday" card this morning then brought home a cake this afternoon that he made in the school's FCS room! It even had a number 1 candle. How sweet! What blessing to be alive another year and to have another shot at life. That IS something to celebrate. And I will every year. I hope you all do, too, when it's your 'birthday.'

I am a true miracle. Last year when I blacked out at school, my husband was smart enough to take me to the ER to get me checked out. I told him to just take me home, I'd be fine, and I would 'sleep it off' on the couch like so many times before. I'm glad he had enough sense to take me to the ER. I had had so many traumas to my head the past few years from blacking out and hitting hard surfaces, I needed to be checked. I just was so sick of going to the hospital and no one being able to help me. All my 'episodes' were so random that no test or monitor ever caught them. Until one year ago today in the ER. The doctors are amazed that I don't have short term memory loss from having a heartbeat of 4 beats/minute for minutes on end. Today I could be learning how to tie my shoes every day for the rest of my life or learn how to write my name or a number of things. But thank God, He saved me! And sent me my EP!!!

I also had a pacer check today. All is well!

Well, that's it. I just wanted to share. Thanks for being some of the greatest people on the planet. This club is just amazing. I am honored to be among a special group of 'battery-operated' people!

Happy pacing!

My pacemaker and I turn 8 in January 08. That was so neat of your husband to make you a birthday cake.

Happy Birthday my fellow Libra! Mine is tomorrow, and I feel the same as you. How lucky we are to be here, to have the technology that enables us to enjoy a good life and most of all to be with the people we love!

You and I have talked before ella our symptoms and circumstances were almost identical. I also said the same thing to my wife just let me lay down for awhile and I will be fine. I was 10 beats a minute on the way to the hospital. These episodes had been going on for 2 years or longer. I would just take a nap and all would clear up. We have the same thing VVS and SSS. When you explain what happened to you I live it all over again. On my one year birthday I felt the same way and expressed it basically the same way. I am now nearing my 2nd birthday on Oct. 29th and I still feel the same way. I have to go to Reno the week before to see the Doctor that put my pacer in. My wife and I are staying to the same hotel we were at when all this happened to celebrate my 2nd birthday. Take a 3 day vacation have a great dinner and even get in some gambling time. I will be thinking about you and celebrate how lucky we both were that our respective spouses realized we were really in trouble and we had no idea. Things are just getting better and better. I will be celebrating for both of us. Have a great 1st birthday and may many more follow. Bowlrbob

Happy "Birthday"

And thanks, ela-girl, for sharing your celebration. And also thanks everyone else who replied, for all the uplifting posts. I forget sometimes just how fortunate I am to have this little piece of technology implanted in my chest. I, like so many, had intermittent A Fib, sinus pauses and bradycardia ( I now realize) for a many years before it showed up in any tests.

Anyway, thanks again, You have much to celebrate.

I never would have thought to celebrate my PM "birthday" but I think it is a neat idea! Something special to look forward to. Thanks for sharing yours with us. I have only had mine (PM) for not quite 4 months. Great Idea!

God bless you.
