I was supposed to have a root canal today. I made sure my endodontist knew I had a pacer implanted less than three months ago and he appropriately contacted my EP for any restrictions. No epinephrine for me, which means the novicaine won't last near as long. Make a long story short, he numbed me, started drilling, and I came off the table in excruciating pain. He slapped a temp filling over the drill hole and rescheduled me for a time he can put me to sleep. Moral of the story? Always make sure a treating practitioner knows you have a pacer. EP's can be variable in their restrictions and you'll want to be sure to follow them! Safety first, however I have to admit I'm bummed that this thing isn't over with!

I damaged 7 teeth in faint(SCA). Had pm put in stat but cardiologist made me wait 6 months for invasive dental procedures which included 3 root canals, I dental implant and 6 crowns. Had braces on teeth during the 6 month wait, Then was treated by endodontist periodontist who did implant and regular. No epi in my novacaine either but had no pain during or after these procedures. Maybe it is your practitioner. Trish
