Starting Week 7 with "Sparky"

I've been counting the days since my new little friend, "Sparky" was introduced under my left clavicle. Just within the past week, my muscles around the pocket are no longer sore when I wake in the morning, the scar is no longer so sensitive and is starting to fade, and I forget about it more and more. I'm starting to feel like my old self, unless I look in the mirror. I also have a nasty scar around the area of my sternum when they retrieved my Medtronic Reveal monitor at the same time as "Sparky's" insertion. Yes my heart rate was higher after my PPM insertion, but I think it's because I was freaked out about the whole idea of it all. Now my heart rate has normalized and I'm considering going to the gym again. I guess this is for all you newbies. It gets better slowly but surely. I think I have my old self back. Thank you to those of you who humored me when asking about restrictions and to those of you who allowed me to read your posts on this site and see that we're all in this together! Happy Friday to ya'll.

Just take it easy at the gym

Just take it easy at the gym. Sometimes you feel better than you are, push it, then pay for it with a lot of soreness.

Any exercise is better than none at all. So do a half hour just to see how it feels. I'd do that for at least a week. Then gradually increase. Sometimes the heart gets a little wonky during the first few workout sessions while it gets accustomed to the PM calling the shots.

The hardest thing for me to adjust to was walking out of the gym feeling good. Used to walk out exhausted. Kept thinking something was wrong when it was finally right.

Remember to drink plenty of water.

Hope things continue to go well for you.

Great attitude!

Suz,
Wow, good for you! You have got the attitude girl! You are on week 7? Be careful with the muscles in your chest. I did a half marathon at 5 weeks after, but didn't have a good time which was fine. My legs were fine, but it hurt my chest when I would start to jog. Yes, exercise is therapeutic. I also felt light headed and felt sick when I started back in spinning class around 10 weeks after surgery. Just pace yourself and good luck!

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
