Thanks Tracy E... The dr has been around for a while... I can see how he was being a bit overly negative... but in a sense I respect his honesty... but they did say it was a 2 to 1 block definitely.... and they also said it couldn't be rd levers ed only treated so it won't get worse... this was told to me by the the fetal echo dr... the high risk specialist and also the neonatal dr....
YES faith is all I can have which I do.... I keep telling myself she will be fine.. but it's an lil part of me staying I have a beautiful 15 r old daughter and a beautiful 6 ur old son... I kno God has the final say so...and his will will be done.... thanks for ur support I truly appreciate it...made me feel better

Firstly I am a mum to a teenage daughter who has what is known as complete heart block. She has had a pacemaker since being a baby but does very well and is able to do most other things that her friends do.
It can be vary scary to learn that there is a problem with your baby during a scan.
Not sure if you have already been referred to or the professional who gave you the diagnosis is a specialist in heart problems for children. If they are, then they should be preparing for the birth of your baby by having the appropriate medical help available at the birth. It is better to know about any medical problems then not to know as your baby will get the right medical help from birth. If you have not already seen a specialist hospital which deals with childrens heart problems then I would recommend requesting a referral and a second scan to double check the diagnosis.

Get a 2nd opinion so you and the Doctors can be prepared at birth like Pacemum said.
Short story: A younger cousin and his wife were expecting their 2nd baby 3 years ago. The Doctors told her the tests came back positive for Spina Bifida. They told her to consider other options at each and every visit. She saw the pregnancy through and had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. I know that is not always the outcome, but you asked for positive feedback and I can't think of anything better.
As far as babies and heart problems, the medical community is always advancing.
You're more than half way through your pregnancy. The waiting is always hard but your faith and your other children will get you through this. My Prayers are with you and your baby.

Thank you for your message it did make make feel more at ease. I actually havent been feeling bad about it tho.. I kno I am doing everything I can on my end to make sure she comes safely.. Not stressing myself at all... and jus hoping for the best. I appreciate your message alot. I do not know anyone that is in my situation. I see that you had your pacemaker put in at 23. If you dont mind me asking how old are you now? My doctors are saying that if everything goes accordingly they will put one in her right away. Currently I am 27 weeks hopefully she can hold out until 32 33 weeks and then they might take her. Not sure yet tho.. I am on a week to week basis with what can happen. I am being optimistic, but at the same time i know dealing with reality anything can happen.
we have the exact same story!

My daughter is now 7 and has complete heart block due to lupus anti bodies. There is a chance your daughters heart beat can go back to normal after shes born but the chance is slim. Your daughter will live a completely normal life she will just get a little extra help with her pacemaker. Feel free to email me if u wamna chat or have questions about anything at all! brbritjfullmer@gmail.com..remember have faith god is amazing! Brittany

Hi Miss Cannon,
I stumbled upon this website after my baby was diagnosed at 29 weeks pregnant with 2:1 heart block. When I went back to doctor this week (30 weeks), things looked the same. I was tested for autoimmune diseases and antibodies and it came back negative. Just wondering how your pregnancy progressed and I'm praying you have you little girl with you now.
I'm hoping I carry to term and things stay the same. It's very scary because it is so unpredictable.
You know you're wired when...
You invested in the Energizer battery company.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
hang in there

There is nothing you can do but have faith. I know it's easier said than done, but worry won't help either of you. Nothing like being sick and having pregnancy hormones to make it that much harder to cope. Hang in there!! I don't want to downplay it but many, many babies have been born with the same thing and lived perfectly healthy lives. I think the dr was being overly negative to tell you it doesn't look good. Do you know how many babies he has treated with heart block? My guess would be not a lot. It's unusual but not rare, but it's rare enough that unless you are in a large practice in a city you may be a first for them. Sometimes when they don't know they are more negative than they need to be, and some drs just have a lousy bedside manner.
We have moms here of babies/children with heart block, some are paced, some are not. Hopefully you will hear from them soon. We have teens and college students with CCHB who have been paced since birth. Then there's my generation. I was born in 1966 so ultrasounds weren't around yet, my mom never had a clue either of us was in danger. I got through childhood just fine. Now I'm a mom of 2 healthy teenagers, leading an active, healthy life. No one would look at me and see someone with a heart condition.
One other thought, I don't know about babies/children but adults with 2:1 are often monitored only, not treated. Did they explain what it is? 2nd degree, or 2:1, means for every two beats of the atria, sometimes only one of them gets through to the ventricles. I have 3rd degree which means the signal never gets through. The body learns to compensate and the heart beats on its own at random, esp when we're young. 2:1 is much easier on the body.
Good luck to you!! Please let us know how you and your precious little girl are doing.
