My husband had his pacemaker put in, in 2013. He signed for an experimental lead. Approximately in the summer of 2014, he started experiencing a feeling that is like cold and hot at the same time and a dull toothache-like, agonizing pain in the upper left arm. When it's really bad, it's like someone has knocked him out (he is conscious at all times). He says that it is like you are going 20 mph towards a brick wall; hitting the wall; and then, experiencing that horrible pain after hitting the brick wall. Occasionally, it's a very bad throbbing pain. That's when he feels like he is losing it because it is a horrible agonizing sensation. It's always in the left side of the arm and face. We have been to his heart doctor many times. He has tested him for every test that a heart doctor would and could give. He has had his pacemaker checked. They say everything is fine! He has been to a spine doctor. That doctor said everything is fine. He has been to a neurologist. The neurologist dispensed gabapentin; aka neurontin. Now, she has prescribed Lyrica. She said that if that didn't work, that she would prescribe cymbalta. We will be going to a neck specialist later this month and also a shoulder specialist. It seems like all of these doctors are passing the buck. Surely, he is not the only person that has experienced these unbearable, agonizing and strange problems!!! Our primary care doctor prescribed Tramadol 50mg. This helps, but this medicine is on that list of controlled substances. We do not know when and if that doctor will stop dispensing this medicine!

Everything in your post sounds so weird and just plain awful. The most interesting part to me, however, is that your husband had an "experimental lead" placed. What is that? Is he part of a special study or am I totally misinterpreting your post and he actually got a single-lead PM in an attempt to correct a borderline problem with his heart? Let us know. Your poor husband must be miserable.
