I am a 57 year-old male. I have just joined. I had a dual lead St. Jude pacemaker put in on November 18, 2014. My heart rate was dropping to 30 while I slept and skipping beats and rarely got above 50. Had this most of my life but never had complications, only tired but assumed it was from working. I felt better almost immediately after surgery but it only lasted for about 2 weeks. I still have good days but also days when i feel like i did before the surgery. I have my second post - op visit in 2 1/2 weeks. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and if it gets better.

waiting for better days

Its nice to know that this is normal. Guess I was expecting to feel 20 again. One day great the next not so great. Its hard to go back to not so great. It has only been a little less than a month now and Im sure you are right. I just need more time to heal. I need to learn to be more patient. Pacemakers are a real blessing. I know where I would be w/o it. I dont ever want to feel that bad again. One day at a time. Thanks.

sleep study

Thanks so much for your response. I had a sleep apnea study done about 15 years ago and another a few days before my surgery. My wife says I snore A LOT and stop breathing at times but the doc said I only had mild apnea and didnt need a cpap. Wife says the snoring has gotten better and she hasn't noticed any apnea since surg.. I just thought I would feel better than I do. I did actually sit thru 2 movies W/O falling asleep which is huge for me (and my wife). Maybe i just need to give it more time. Thanks so much for your help.
