Newbie

Just thought I'd say hi, joined the site tonight after many months of being a visitor! Was surprised by needing a little buddy in my shoulder just over 6 months ago. Went into hospital to have the 'engine' rebuilt & 6 days later had my permanent buddy installed. It was a massive shock as it had never been discussed as a possible complication or outcome! It's has been very daunting to face the fact that I now need my little buddy to exist, but more & more I'm starting to trust my buddy. In the early days & weeks, in those moments of uncertainty (usually at ridiculous hours of the morning that normally only shift workers & sleep deprived parents see) this site gave me some sense of normality to this new way of life & hope that everything would be ok! So thanks to everyone on here for supporting & helping newbies, even when u don't know u are!

Gudday Mate!

Gudday Mate! Welcome to the club. In my opinion, and since I have the same PM, I feel you have the best PM of the lot. Enjoy the regular heartbeat. I really enjoy my Medtronic and am amazed at what it can do.

Yeah, it's a shock to find out you need a mechanical piece of equipment to survive, but isn't it great to live in an age where we have such equipment? Besides, people use glasses, have dialysis, kidney transplants, CPAP machines, and all sorts of stuff to keep them alive. No one thinks a thing about it. I'm thinking PM's are almost at that level now.

I correspond with several people from down under. Was on (what you call) a coach holiday in the UK in June with Aussies. Had a great time.

So lift a pint for me. Keep enjoying life. Let us know how things are going.

Thanks for Welcome

Thanks Sunny & Theknotguy for the welcomes. Loved that you picked up on my being an Aussie Theknotguy, gave me a chuckle! G'day Mate right back at you!

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
