I am new to pacing, my 8 week old grandson has had a pacemaker since day 9. I am looking for something he can wear (under his clothes) that will protect him from wireless transmissions. I have found protective compression clothing more geared towards older kids and sports. His pacemaker is in his belly and it will be until he is closer to 10-12 years old.
Is there such a thing that would give him protection from wireless phones, ipads, computers, etc.

Your grandson's pacemaker should not be affected by wireless devices. The main external things that affect children are strong magnets in fairground rides such as bumper cars or dodgems together with some sporting restrictions depending on where the pacemaker is located. Most of these will not affect until your grandson is a few years older.
The hospital should issue some guidelines for children and parents.
My daughter has had a PM from being a baby too. When the pacemaker is in the abdomen of very small children it is very noticeable. But as your grandson grows it will look smaller. The main problem in children is growth which is why children's pacemakers are usually checked more often then adults.

Hello how are u ? My daughter is 9 years old she has been having a pacemaker since she was 4 days old .The things u are trying to protect your grandson from was the thing I asked my child doctor and pacemaker nurse about I was told back in the days cell phone would have a effect On pacemakers but know it doesn't but u still can be carry with your grandson. It took me years to find a company that would make something to protect My child if she was to fall her pacemaker is also in her abdomen. The age of your grandchild doesn't matter they would ask u to send in certain Measurement of your grandchild and they will custom it for u if u want the information let me know .

Please be patient with me it's my first time to post on this site. My son is 12 and has always had a pacemaker. We used to make sure that visitors kept their phone up high on a shelf when they came over. What we have discovered is that if there is a device your grandchild will want to use bring it to the pacemaker clinic and they will check the pacers while the device is in use. This can be done on any visit even before your grandchild is ready to move on to these devices. Magnets were things we had to watch for. Children are very good when you explain to them as they grow that there are things that they can't hold next to their stomach because of the battery. Hope this helps.
You know you're wired when...
Youre officially battery-operated.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.

You don't indicate in your profile what kind of pacemaker your grandson has. However the pacemaker manufacturers have websites with information about the pacemakers.
My manufacturer, Medtronic has information on their website about interference with electrical and RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). I'll include the link below.
In essence you and your grandson don't have to worry about electrical and RFI. He'll soon be scaring you with all the things normal kids do. Let him enjoy life.
