Hi Willie!
I have intermittent stage 2 sometimes 3 mobitz type 2 heart block and the Micra has fixed me all up. Granted, it has taken 3 months to let myself and the device get adjusted to each other, but I forget it's there, until I feel the recovery heart beats thus know that it's working. I am paced at 50.
As for the battery change; within 3 months the pacemaker is completely encapsulated in your heart so when the battery dies, they just put another one beside it. BUT, I have held a display Micra in my hand, it is TINY, shorter than a nickel and literally smaller than a vitamin I take every day.
Hopefully, the FDA approves this little gadget (what I have nick named mine).
Maybe by the time you need a replacement, the Micra will be mainstream. My EP seems to think it's the PM of the future :)

Questions about the Micra
by WillieG - 2015-02-01 01:02:58
Hi there! Congrats on finishing your degree! I was glad that you were able to give the other person helpful advice!
I always enjoy reading your posts as I am fascinated by the Micra concept. What a wonderful improvement! I had thought it was only for people with bradycardia in VVI mode, and not for Heart Block. I was surprised, but kinda happy, to learn it can be used for HB. I have exercise induced 2nd degree,a Mobitz II, they say. I have not been able to have my PM set correctly in 8 months and have gone from 69% pacing to zero with still feeling the blocks. Going to the Cleveland Clinic Feb 12 and hope to get some questions answered.
Also curious as to how they change your battery. Will they just add a 2 nd one, or do they remove the original one?
Thanks for answering my questions and I would be interested in reading your paper about the Micra, too, if possible.
