Ok has anyone found that they still hold their arm next to their body sometimes even though they do not have to anymore? I find myself cradling my arm next to my body and resting it under my breast like at the beginning. It is too funny, I just start laughing at myself. It is like my arm wants to be there now.
Just thought I would share my funny moment with everyone.

7 weeks out
by Tinkergirl - 2014-11-21 02:11:53
I am 7 weeks out and I can promise you that the PM starts to feel lighter over time, even though I cathch myself putting my hand over the PM site so it won't fall out..lol
As far as exercise, right now I just walk as my scar has not healed yet on one part, but they had to do 3 surgeries in 2 days so I knew it would take a little longer to heal.
It will be even funnier in a few weeks when you catch yourself still cradling your arm out of habit!!! Good luck and speedy recovery to you!!!!
Arm movement - OH YES

I was 8 weeks out before I really felt safe moving my arm! I had the same experience with walking as you did. Sometimes I could walk a longer distance, other days going down the block was rough. Three months out I am walking 5-7 miles a day with no problem. You will get there. I don't think cardiologists prepare you well enough for after the PM. They are all hot to install it, but aftercare, in my opinion, really sucks. They call you back when you feel like it. I have left 3 messages at times with questions. Yes, they do it ALL the time, but I don't. They really need to do some more education about post-op than they do. (at least mine does).
Good luck! You will get there!
PT after pacemaker

Oh yes, forgot to mention, I so over-torqued my RIGHT arm during recover that I needed PT. Be careful. I was in a LOT of pain from that.
You know you're wired when...
You run like the bionic man.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
Arm Movement...One Arm at That
by Heartbeatflutterfly - 2014-11-21 02:11:44
Wow! that's amazing considering I just had my insertion 9 days ago and still have stitches in and get them out in a couple days, but when I saw that you mentioned "cradling my arm under my breast.." I was like BOOM 100% relate to that! and still do it! and probably will continue once the stitches are out because for some reason even though the p.m is so "small" it feels like I'm lop-sided and of course understandably so, new and different having had a p.m in the first place. I am FAR from thinking about exercise as I feel that the p.m will somehow detach itself and all kinds of thoughts I know is unlikely but it does get the mind racing with something "new" And I too start laughing at myself....Oh the dilemma
