Update on Maureen's husband.

Hello all you good people.

Maureen e-mailed me, and asked that I post an update on her husband's condition.
John had by-pass surgery yesterday, and is still in critical care, because he has a low blood pressure. If he does better tomorrow, they will move him to a room.
They had him sitting up, and dangling his legs, over the side of the bed already.
She says that he looks good, but he is in a lot of pain, and they were giving him Tylenol, which wasn't helping.
They finally gave him something a bit stronger after Maureen told them.
Maureen is staying in a hotel, until she is comfortable that he'll be fine, then she'll briefly return home, for the week end, to regroup.
On Monday, she'll go back to the hospital, and if all is well, bring John home on Tuesday.
She hasn't lost her sense of humor, she is being strong, and handling the situation very well.
Let's keep them both in our thoughts and prayers.

Dominique - Thank you for passing on the good news about John. I must say though I am stunned that he is only getting Tylenol for pain! My gosh, they opened up his entire chest so it is no wonder the Tylenol isn't helping. Surely they must be giving him a major pain medication. If not, either John is really, really stoic or the doctors/nurses are barbarians.

I agree with your last comment about the strength of Cathy and her mom. They are both to be respected and admired. I've often thought that if Jessie lived near me we would be great friends. The same goes for you, Dominique. There are certain people one just feels a connection with that enriches our lives. I send my love to Jessie and Cathy. Looking forward to the next update on John. God bless you.

Update on Maureen Husband

by Cathy - 2007-09-14 03:09:46

Hey Dominique,

Thank you for all of your support. I just got off the phone with my mom and am glad she emailed you about how my dad is doing. I am so happy he is doing well. So grateful for all the thoughts and prayers. It has been a long week for me, dad having by-pass, husband gone way up north. Not that I am complaining because the big thing was my dad and being a support to my mom, just being human......You are right about my mom's sense of humor, something I was also blessed with, you can find something funny no matter what the situation, I think it is a coping mechanism for both of us. It has got us through many sad moments. I just want to say one more thing before I go to bed. My mom wanted me pass on again thank you Dominique for all the support and friendship you have shown. It means the world to her.

Take care and God Bless
Cathy and Maureen

Hi Sharon.

Maureen did mention that John had been given morphine, but only for one day. She didn't understand why other than it could have been because of his blood pressure.
After she spoke to them, they put him on percocet.
Maureen and her family have gone through so much this year, I hope this is it, and their lives can return to some kind of normalcy.
You are so right about the way one feels about a certain person, right off the start.
Can't wait for that photo album to get under way, so we can see who we are communicating with.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you in the future.
Take care,

~ Dominique ~

Thank you.

Hi Cathy.

Thank you for the kind words. It's hard not to like your mother, she is sweet, caring, funny, and always has an encouraging word for someone, whether she knows them or not.
We have become close web friends, and I hope some day we can meet in person.
I commend you for the strength you have shown, during this trying time, being far away. You take after your mother, definitely.
My best to all of you, and a special wish for your dad for a speedy recovery.
Take care,

~ Dominique ~

My dad and his by-pass

by Cathy - 2007-09-15 10:09:55

Hi Sharon and Dominique,

Thank you so much for all of your support. You have no idea, although you are very far away how much it means. My dad is doing better today after getting off the percocet. I talked to him earlier and although very tired he sounded great to me. The only hard thing for me is that I could not be there to give him the biggest hug. My mom is amazing, she has been quite the trooper and great support for my dad. Funny, after going through this and talking to you both, I too would love to meet you. Please take care of yourselves as well and either me or my mom will keep you updated.
