unhappy :(

Hi, everyone just lettting everyone know of my recent up date on my situation, as most of you know that I've been suffering from chest pains & thinking that it was to do with the size of my breast's and wanted to investigate about the possability of having a reduction.
Well I went to see my cardiologist this morning to discuss the situation, unfortantly he was not very helpful and just exsplained that it was not adviseable to have another operation on my breast, fare enough I excepted this and the fact that it was nothing to do with the pacemaker, but trying to get the reason of why these pains were re-accuring, he could not give me an answer not only that did'nt even advise to have any test's done, just refered me back to the doctor to try pain managment.
with this I went home and found a corner to let out my emotions. :(

sometimes they just don't listen

I hate it when doctors blow you off like that. Do they think we like going to their offices? You might consider getting another doctor or at least another opinion, but what a pain that is. Starting over. I really understand your frustration. Good luck and don't give up. Pain is a signal that you shouldn't ignore.

I understand!

Why would he say it was not advisable to have another operation on your breasts? Yesterday I just asked my doctor about being large breasted and having it pull on leads or the pacemaker. I asked him if it would be medically necessary to have a breast reduction and he said no. But he didn't say I couldn't do it. But I understand where you are coming from with this!!

How long have you had your pacemaker? Have you had problems with the doctor before? If you could get a second opinion, I would. If for no other reason to give you the peace of mind!

Going through it right now...

Angie! i am going through basically the same thing, I believe. If not please correct me. I am currently in the hospital right now for severe chest pains where my pacemaker is located, and going under my armpit a bit. I have been fighting with everyone to listen to me also. Thank goodness, my cardiologist has not yet given up on me. He has had be admitted to the hospital in the cardiac wing, and I have been undergoing some testing. He has even gone so far as to bring in an electro physiologist/cardiologist, a plastic surgeon, as well as a pain management clinic lady to talk with me and give him insight.
Although we still have not come up with a reason for all of this pain, they are getting closer, I think. The plastic surgeon thought at first it might have something to do with the fact that my breasts are also quite large, and the other doctors think it might have to do with the fact that I am still quite young also (20).
One thing they thought it might be is that there is not enough length in the wire, so it is constantly putting pressure on the nerves and muscle it is under. (The wire is wrapped around it).
I will keep you updated on what happens, I will have plenty of time in here! In the meanwhile, I suggest you get a doctor who will listen to you. My doctor blatantly admits he does not know why this is happening, but he at least believes me and is trying everything in his power to find out why and how to help me.
Good luck with everything, and feel free to message me if you'd like to talk about this further.

medic alert

Answer to sohare - Yes, I highly recommend medic alert. And - I recommend the brand Medic-Alert because of the service they provide. I worked in emergency rooms in the past and learned to appreciate rapid access to patient information. With Medic-Alert, you get a bracelet with current info. You also have access to their website to keep all medical info current. Your bracelet or medalion (you choose) will have your vital info and a phone number and your member number so that medical personnel can call them and get a complete medical picture. They also store your contact information - family, friends, doctors, etc. They are expanding their options all the time and now even have a keychain item you put in your usb port on your computer, enter info, then the hospital or whoever can "plug" it into their computer for readouts. This may or may not be a good idea - it occurred to me that losing your keys might prove problematic in more ways than one!
