Brugada

My son has been passing out since he was 12. He is now 38 and has had his pacemaker for 9 years. That is how long it took then to figure out what was wrong with him. They told him he had Brugada, (Sudden Death Syndrome) and was lucky to have surrvied for 15 years before they found it. He has worked at a manufacting company for 18 years and the new doctor at Duke says if he wants to live he can't keep working there because the machines create so much electricity currents in the air and because of all the static electricity, it could stop his pacemaker from working and could not save him if he needed it. I might add that he has had it go off 6302 times in the last 3 months and has had his defibulator go off several times at work. They can't tell him to quit work but has said strongly that he should.

Has anyone with Brugada been able to get disability? He is afraid to go back to work but has to have income. He is now thinking about all options but is still working at the plant.

When I was getting tested finally for long qt syndrome, the best site I found was SADS - Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome. They have tons of advice, support, a newsletter, physician referrals. I am certain Brugada is included in this syndrome. check it out and let us know if it was helpful.
