It lights up every Monday.....I wonder how fail safe they are....and if something is starting to go wrong will it pick it up?Just wondering if anyone would know? Thank you

I put the device on my implant and it reads it...and sends to my doctor...this is once a week....sorry sometimes I just do not explain things right..it's in my head but I don't get it out. Thank you

I understand now... I do not have a device that reads my pacemaker, I go directly to the doctor's office and they do the "interrogation" there. I don't know much about them, as I am a rather new pacemaker patient. But my doctor has talked about giving me one as I live about an hour's drive and in winter the pass is often snowy and the road can be closed. So, for emergency or for problems they could have me send the information and perhaps the doctors where I live could assist until I could get additional help.

I don't think it will do much more than "read" the information your device has gathered in the time since the last transmission. I believe (but not 100% sure) that the doctors could change your settings through this device, but I can't imagine they would do that without telling you.

The purpose of sending the readings is to find what is going on with your heart. So I should think it is a good thing. I wouldn't worry about it not being able to determine what is wrong. If you start to feel really terrible or like something is really wrong, then you wouldn't want to wait for your phone check, but call or go see your doctor directly. The phone checks appear to be an added safety factor and convenience factor for you and the doctor.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject will respond for you.

I'm still in the 1st year, and I've had remote interrogations through a Carelink device 3 months apart. If yours seems really stable they may reduce your remote exams. I think after a while they only do them every 6 months or so. Your pacemaker tech (who receives the information) should be able to verify for you that the remote is working fine and even be able to briefly discuss the results with you. They tell me the expected life of your device is__ and you use your device __% of the time.
