Low blood pressure

I have a pacemaker and recently my blood pressure has been running 80/65. I thought the pacemaker was suppose to keep it from getting to low. Just wonder what your thoughts are on this low blood pressure.

Low blood pressure

If you are not feeling faint or going dizzy chances are you are OK.

Sometimes dehydration will cause a low blood pressure.
Some medications obviously lower blood pressure.

There are medical conditions ( see Addison's Disease) causing low blood pressure. If it continues and is confirmed I would get a medical opinion.

Low BP

Hi Karen,

as Angrysparrow already pointed out, a pacemaker treats low heart rates and pauses, but not low blood pressure. In some patients a higher heart rate helps to improve a low blood pressure, but not in all.

How do you take your blood pressure? From your reading of 80/65 I'd guess you have one of those monitors that you put around your wrist, and not around the upper arm. If I'm right about that, try a monitor that measures around the upper arm. My experience with wirst monitors is that they always show a very low blood pressure, around the same reading you get. When I use an upper arm one, however, my blood pressure is perfectly normal.

I have neurocardiogenic syncope, which means my BP went so low it either stopped or put my heart in danger. I still can low BP. Its to protect the heart.
