Burning Sensation at PM site

Hi Everyone, Had a PM inserted 10 days ago and still get a burning sensation at the site. It seems to come and go and occasionally I feel almost a vibrating sensation. Is this normal and has anyone experienced this before. When I bend over I also have the sensation that it's moving in it's pouch. Is this my imagination or does this happen until it's settled in. Any info would be appreciated.

It was something I experienced w for a couple of weeks after my implanration. It is just settling into your body. It feels like you have to hold it when you move around I know strange feeling but it will settle in and won't be so peonounced. The vibration and burning is the device working. You can call your doctor at any time if you just want to hear a more specialized answer but I had the same sensations. Welcome and get rest. Take care.

hi there
i had a st jude defibrillator implanted 2 1/2 months ago. although much better, i still feel the heaviness when bending over and especially when getting out of bed in the morning. i also get prickly feelings and was told it is the device settling into the skin.
as for vibration, i dont know about your device, but mine has a patient alert/notification which vibrtes like a silenced cell phone. my doc sa id to call if i feel the vibration. your device may be different but probably worth checking out.

it does get better!

Thanks you your comments.
My pacemaker is a MRI Sure Scan by Medtronic's.
I have afib and the medication I was on was taking my heart rate down to 38 on the lowest dose. The PM was inserted so they could increase the medication. I was in afib 20 out of 30 days a month and could hardly function. I'm feeling so much better but I'm really not sure what is normal in the healing process or what to expect. The post op instructions never covered any of this.

It's moving

The pacemaker really is moving. Pacemaker implantation is done in such a way as to allow it to move with your skin as your body moves.

If you've reached an age when the skin hangs down a bit when you bend over, expect the PM to move too. Scar tissue is less stretchy than skin. As it develops, the PM will be held more firmly in place, but the PM (inside the pouch) will still move.

10 days is not a long time, and you are still healing on the inside.Expect the site to be a little sensitive--at least for a month, longer for some people. In time, you won't notice the PM's excursions any more than you are aware that your skin moves.

Seat Belts

Thanks everyone for the advice. Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks and I would be allowed to drive. Took a chance this morning and drove myself to church. Everything went well but the seat belt was uncomfortable across my chest. I had bought a foam cover for it but that did not help. I stopped at a store and bought a hand towel and used that to take the pressure off. Does anyone have any ideas that work better. I'm a very active 72 year old who was always on the go until the afib started last January. So thanks again and all information is greatly appreciated!

Soreness

I am about 3 1/2 weeks and feel the weight of the pm when I bend over or out of bed. Really tender with the seat belt. We went on a cruise last week ( with dr permission ) and I rode in a jeep. I would not recommend that after surgey. I am having swelling in my legs and feet. Good luck on your recovery.
