Thank you for the replies.

I'd just like to thank everyone who responded to my question regarding how often a pacemaker works. The last time I went to the pacemaker clinic, I asked the technician the same question. He told me it works all the time. English is his second language and I think we misunderstood one another.

The tech was right

The tech was right. The PM sits there and observes all the time. So in that sense it's working all the time. How much you pace is a totally different question.

For example, my PM observes all the time. If my heart doesn't initiate a beat within the PM's calculated time, it will go ahead and initiate a beat. My PM is doing that about 80% of the time. Doesn't mean my heart would stop beating if the PM were to quit, it just means my heart doesn't initiate a beat on its own within the PM's calculated time.

Some people get all concerned about the amount they pace. You'll pace as much as you need. Best thing is to concentrate on doing all the healthy things to help your heart.

In the meantime doesn't it feel good to have that piece of equipment sitting there helping out when it's needed?
