Pacemaker Transmitter Service

My Mom received a new St. Jude's pacemaker replacement in 5/14. We finally received the transmitter in the mail. Upon trying to set it up, we realized that it is not compatible with a digital telephone line (only landline), which she does not own.

When I called St. Jude's, I was informed that she would have (2) options: (1) either pay a monthly fee of $16.99 for a device that plugs into the transmitter, with a 3-year contract, or (2) pay a flat fee of $450 for an ethernet device that plugs into the router. Honestly, neither option is affordable.

We could always get landline, but that would be approximately $40 per month. Is the cost of servicing the transmitter worth it, meaning could the difference be life saving? I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

All may not be lost. I too have digital voice ( from comcast). I have a Medtronic PM and I thought as you that it wouldn't work. I plugged it into my telephone connection and sent a test feed to dr office. All went well. I don't know your situation but it worked for me

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
