Don't worry, Mellie. I sleep on my left side with my left arm raised above my head. After getting my PM and while I was still in the hospital I finally resorted to the sling - but just while I was sleeping. It served as a reminder not to raise my arm too high.

Changes are high that you'll be fine.

Thank you, I go to my doctor tomorrow and I was afraid he would know I did the #1 bad thing. As long as I didn't pull any leads I don't want to go through the surgery again Thanks again, I feel much better.

Fear not

I was lifting my arm within a week of implantation. The incision area wasn't painful, and lifting my arm didn't hurt, so frankly, I just kept forgetting I shouldn't do it.

Then, when nothing bad seemed to happen, I truly forgot most of the precautions. (I'm really unlikely to lift anything weighing over 10 lbs anyway. The dog's food comes in 8 lb bags and that's about the heaviest thing I normally lift.)

I'm not a doctor, but I suspect the average person is unlikely to do anything to dislodge the leads. The precautions are there for the people who don't listen to their bodies and who will try to do too much too soon.

If you're feeling okay, there's probably little to worry about.

your probably fine

They do a good job with the leads. I'm still amazed i didn't pull them out after my pm implant. I started driving within hours after discharge and tried (without a whole lot of success) to remember not to lift my arm or anything over 10 lbs. After 3 weeks i did worry a bit after lifting a 75 lb toilet and carrying it. Afterwards i remebered the weight restriction... opps. Thankfully i never had a problem. Good luck and take care... Gary

Should be OK

Depending on your PM needs I'd think you'd know pretty quickly if you did something. When they correctly install your leads they put some slack in them and also stich them. If they didn't do this you'd always have a problem moving your arm/body. Plus think how much your heart moves around during normal beating.

The no raising your arm is a precaution for those who might do radical things until the lead ends are scarred into your heart muscle. Much simpler to say "don't raise your arm" than to try to explain what it would take to pull them out and to not do that.

I did it too

I raised my arm above my head several times the first week and nothing bad happened. Unless you are In pain, I wouldn't worry about it.
