Hi all. I am one week old yet in my first PM. I think I am ready to go back to work in a week's time but in limited mobility. However, my work, my life's business actually, are two: TV broadcast station, and cable TV operator. Two which are separate but I used to split my working days visiting both.
Questions:
1) I frequent more in working in the building where the broadcast station is. Am I safe? I do work in another room, but antennas are everywhere, TOC is nearby and we are operating of 3,000 KW.
2) I visit around four cable TV systems, all have what we call Head-Ends which is a closed room with racks of satellites encoders, decoders, transcoders, laser transmitters, not to mention, at least 12 satellite dishes in each area to receive programs. Am I safe to go inside the head end room? Or even the building?
I'm still stuck at home in my post-operation recovery stage.
I'll be happy for some insights.

RF and CRT-D

Rainbow, I'd be very interested if you would pass on what you learn about radio frequency transmissions as they affect PM's and CRT-D's. I have an amateur radio license and plan to give up the hobby just to be on the safe side. Your livelihood is no hobby, of course, so I have a much easier decision.
I'd suggest you

do a search, upper right corner of the site, for interference. Many posts on it. Note that the oldest, about 6 yrs ago, come up first so I'd scroll down to the bottom first.
You'll find people that do pretty much everything. The only thing I recall causing problems are those huge power generator plants and arc welding.
You'll hear or read that pretty much anything electrical is not recommended for people with PMs. Remember that lawyers write the cautions. Today's newer devices are shielded pretty well.
I use a cell phone all the time, left and right ears, even have laid it on my chest, no problems. I think the problem with chain saws is the vibration if you have RR turned On. I use all my outdoor yard equipment with no problems. Usually I find the 6 inch separation rule is good, even that is conservative. Approach slowly and see how you feel. If you feel funny slowly walk away.
You know you're wired when...
You make store alarms beep.

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
Congratulations

Hi, Rainbow, I've been pacing since Feb and I do not have all answers, but I have a Biotronek bi ventricular PM and I was warned not to be around big magnets, so I cannot have an MRI. Also, my cell phone needs to be at least 12 inches away from the PM, so I hold it in my right ear. I can be around microwave ovens. One video I watched warned me about chainsaws, good thing I'm not a lumberjack. It was never mentioned about avoiding satellites or antennas, but cell phones is a problem. Were you given written instructions from the hospital or a booklet from the PM company? I still get tired, so pace yourself when getting back to work. Best wishes.
