Hello everyone,
I just thought I would let people know that I have finally finished my Pacemaker Book!!
It is aimed at people with Pacemakers, using plain English to explain in depth how pacemakers function.
The book is over 100 illustrated pages and also includes an explanation of what happens at your follow up appointments and advice to get more from your appointments.
The book goes on sale in August on Apple Ibooks and the Kindle Version will be out shortly after that.
So if you are interested keep an eye out its called 'Pacemakers Made Easy' by Carl Robinson
Any one who subscribes to the site will receive a 50% discount and advanced sales. You can subscribe at www.thepad.pm and you will also receive 'The Heart Made Easy' free too!
Any other questions you can email me on

Kindest Regards

Is it only going to be an electronic book, I prefer paper :)
Does it address anxiety attacks??
Who are you?
by flutetooter - 2014-07-02 03:07:25
I looked up info on your book and the author and it looks fantastic and easy to understand. But....Is this an ad (of course it is) and what are your qualification to right such an interesting/informative book? I do agree that I would probably learn a lot, but I would like to make sure that your research is more than excellent illustrations.
anxiety queries
by jenks58 - 2014-07-02 04:07:21
ah too bad you didn't include that in the book. From the responses I got from my post on anxiety there are many who have the panic attacks. My biggest question is it possible for my anxiety attack, in my case my pulse was POUNDING, to affect the pacemaker? Thank you for posting you credentials, it is nice to have that info.
I will keep looking in on your website too. I think it helps having this forum since it's nice to know I'm not actually going crazy unless, of course, we all are! :)
Thank you, Jenks

Hi Flutetooter,
I realise I completely forgot to put my qualifications on my original message (apologies for this I obvioulsy have not drunk enough tea).
My name is Carl Robinson and I am a Senior Cardiac Physiologist currently employed by the NHS in the UK. I specialise in Pacemakers and ICD's and recently received an Excellence award for improving patient experience within the trust. I also produce the free website www.thepad.pm aimed at explaining cardiac devices and heart conditions without the use of jargon!
This is indeed part of my marketing, but I truly believe people from this site wanted to be informed about the book because the community is always on the look out for information on their devices :)
Kindest Regards
Carl

... we have had an argument about you advertising on this site before. That was when you signed in under a different username. First you advertised for your website, now it's your books. Why don't you simply ask Blake, the founder of the forum, to place your ad somewhere on the site, and you pay him for that? Other companies have done so. I have never seen anyone signing in as a member of the club, and then doing nothing but advertising his own stuff.
You once advertised here for your website and said that you were explaining lots of pacemaker functions etc there, which you did - in the beginning. When I now enter the page, there is nothing but advertisements for your two books. So, apparently, you now only want to sell. You have no interest in providing any help for free. Right?
You know, people usually sign in here to get questions answered and help others. We all do this here for free. Against this background, I don't think it's appropriate that you advertise here, without helping at all. You help only when we either subscribe to your website or buy your book.
I suggest that next time you want to advertise here, you talk to Blake before you do so. It's also question of respect for the work he's doing here.

Hi Inga

Hi Inga,
I really do not understand your hostility towards me. I signed in under a new name having deleted my old account because of this hostility in the past.
I also did not really have any intention of posting on this website but I have been specifically asked by members in the past to inform them when the book is done. Looking at the comment chain on this post I feel it was the right decision with some positive comments and people looking forward to the book.
I also find it quite harmful that you feel I have no interest in helping people for free when of my 91 PAGES of my website 91 are completely FREE and only 1 mentions my upcoming book. The other 'ad' allows people to get my book FREE.
The fact that my website is FREE has meant that to date I have made £30 in total all from google advertising. I haven't done the maths but this is probably less than 1 penny per hour for the hundreds of hours of work I have put in to it in the past year.
So paid advertising is not in my budget especially when you consider the software for my drop down menu on my site cost me £32.
You also questioned in the past why I posted links to my website posts on here instead of copy and pasting the answers. Well firstly my explanations and help usually involve illustrations that cannot be posted here and secondly if your website content is duplicated on the internet then it is detrimental to your google search engine results. Therefore were I to paste my help on this website it would mean that both websites could be affected showing up lower in the search engine results.
I just wish you would consider that your opinion is not the only one on this site. I do not understand why you find my posts so offensive?
I honestly believe you see me as some kind of Bond villain stroking my cat in my huge chair looking out over my acres of land from my mansion, toes dipped in my swimming pool.
This is not the case I am currently unable to buy a house with my GF so we can start a family together. I work hard like every one else over 40 hours a week. More importantly I genuinely care about people and especially those with Cardiac issues seeing as I share every single day of my life with them. I am trying to make money from my book yes because I am trying to improve my quality of life for me and my family, but never ever confuse this with me not caring or trying to help others.
I do not feel I have to also add my work I have done with charities for free? Pumping Marvellous and Arrhythmia Alliance to name just two.
I do not share this with you for sympathy, far from it I know I have an excellent life as it is. I just hope by giving you an insight into me as a human being you may relax your vendetta.

When I open your thepad.pm page in my Firefox browser, I can see nothing but advertisements and buttons to subcribe to your facebook etc. accounts. After reading your comment, I checked again. I needed to look really hard to find out that not the complete page is shown, but that I need to scroll to the right to see the rest. And there in the upper right corner I find those 91 or whatever pages you mentioned. That used to be different when you first advertised here. So, I now had the impression that those pages no longer existed. Seemed logical to me, because why put all of them in an e-book that goes on sale, when people can get the info for free on your website. So, I'm sorry for accusing you of not offering help for free. But that's my impression from opening your website and not looking really hard. Don't know if that's just my Firefox not showing me the whole page. I have never had this problem with other pages, yours is the first.
As other people here can state that they find your links/ads helpful, I'm free to say that I do not like the way you advertise here. And I wasn't the only one in the past who didn't like you posting all those links, let's be honest on that.

I am currently looking in to hard copies (i too prefer a real book)
It should be available but will cost a little more for printing and delivery...
It does not address anxiety attacks unfortunately, i will put that down for a website post sometime :)
