I received my CRT-D device on 23 April 2014 and have had my first follow up visit with the electro-cardiologist on 9 May 2014. The doctor did not inform me that I was a part of a patient Management System. I have since received two large boxes of instruments from Boston Scientific , including a "communicator" which queries my CRT-D and calls the data in to database. There are also a blood pressure monitor and a body weight scale which also report to the database. I do not know what else is on its way.
Have any of you had experience with this process? Please clue me in!

monitor

I have a lattitude monitor also with my CRT-D implant. I am not in any study. This monitor helps my EP in arizona monitor me when l am in Montana. We are snowbirders so travel throughout the year. Right now it interrogates me once a week but when l reach the 3month mark of having the device in it will interrogate every 3 months. But if your heart goes into a-fib it tells the monitor and a red light comes on and it also lets your doctor know so it is supposed to help you not make you afraid. It's a little more security for us. Read the Manuel that comes with it or call Boston Scientific to talk you through it. I am new to this all too but it is getting better. Good luck.
You know you're wired when...

Boston Scientific Samuri Study

My Boston Scientific pacemaker was implanted on Feb. 4, 2014 as part of the Samuri Study for their MRI compatible pacemaker. There were about 325 expected participants with 12 at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Are you sure that you did not sign a permission packet of about 12 pages, appropriately labeled with all the possible hazards listed? Ask to see your permission signature. I also received the communicator, but not the scale and blood pressure monitor. I knew all this before hand. There was also a small stipend after your 3 mo. test with an MRI scan and followup. You can also call Boston Scientific to get this information if your doctor did the procedure without your permission.
