Weird Question about shooting a Rifle or Shotgun

Hey All ~ I have a question… I have only gone shooting a couple of times but did have fun shooting at targets with a rifle and a shotgun my question is… I am right handed but chose to have the pacemaker implanted on my right side because I drive a LOT and didn't want the seatbelt irritating it and also I tend to sleep on my left but wouldn't you know since the surgery now I sleep a lot on the right too. Anyway is it possible to shoot a gun with the but on the opposite side? Someone told me you can't have the butt on the same side as the pacemaker. It's not like I would do it a lot but… Just wondered. Thanks

You can switch sides

General advice is to rest it on the non-pacemaker side because any recoil can be very painful and result in bruising. Unlikely to damage the actual device, but will damage you!
I occasionally use a .22 at a range and even with the minimal recoil, I use it on my opposite shoulder, which is awkward because my dominant eye is on the pacemaker side.

but had to learn to shoot left handed because I am left-eye dominant. If you haven't had a ton of shooting experience in the past then it should be relatively easy to make the switch although it feels super awkward at first.

You can shoot right handed, just don't rest the butt of the rifle/shotgun on your pm or leads. You could try a left handed gun. You can't shoot most right handed shotguns left handed because it'll eject the shell on you. Rifles are more likely to be ambidextrous. Maybe give pistols a try, then it won't be an issue.

(my husband is a leftie and avid shooter. I'm right handed and can only play with some of his toys)

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
