Hello Again :) Well I am now 4 1/2 weeks Post-op and 3 1/2 weeks since they had to remove and reposition one of my leads. After 3 trips to the ER with no answers I went over to Seattle to Virginia Mason Hospital and they diagnosed pericarditis and prescribed 800 mg of Ibuprofin 3 times a day. When I told the local surgeon he acted like he didn't think it was ??? So I haven't been real strict about taking the ibuprofin but when I feel the sharp pain I take it. Now the past couple days I haven't taken it and when I bend over I have an ache in my chest. I was wondering if any of you had a similar feeling / ache? Guess I'll go back to taking the ibuprofin. :/ Anyway... Thanks.
Dami

If you were diagnosed with pericarditis and have new pain, or the pain isn't going away, you need to be seen. If nothing else, confirm that's what caused the pain, and if it was that it's getting better.

Pericarditis, (itis) by its definition is inflammation. 800mgm of Ibuprophin is a quite strong antinflammatory drug. So taking it now and then I believe, defeats its purpose. I hope you are not shooting yourself in the foot. But if you are concerned that the pain could be related to another cause, then you should see your doc. Sometimes the docs do not clearly explain why they are prescribing a drug and therefore are not clear about how it should be taken.
