They seem to crop up quite a lot, but a search hasn't quite found what I'm looking for.
Medtronic E-M interference guidance suggests 6 inch distance maintained between the tattoo gun and the PM itself. I have also seen that many people have had tattoos much closer - even directly over - their PM.
My question - have any of our inked community who have tattoos close to the device ever personally experienced any interference from the tattoo machinery? (As opposed to anecdotal or internet horror stories)

tattoos

Hi Pete,
I do have a tattoo directly over my device, but I had it for many years before I got the PM. My Dr. was extra careful and tried really hard to not mess it up too much which I was thankful for. I have not talked to my artist since I got the PM, but I know some of them will not tattoo directly over the site. I'm not sure if it would actually interfere with PM but I think it would hurt like heck and it might cause the needles to break. Hopefully someone else can answer your questions better.
Take care

tattooing over scars

Hi Sparrow,
That sounds like a really cool tat your friend has. I do know some artists will NOT tattoo over scar tissue so I guess if that is something people want they may have to check around with a few artists and find one who will work with them.

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.

Not sure I'm quite up to tattooing over the scar - I think I'm a bit squeamish about that! My PM is well-protected sub-pec, so in terms of physical interference would probably be ok over the top. As it is, I'm thinking about going over the shoulder, maybe close to the scar.
I have one tattoo on my upper arm, which I got when I turned 40. Any regrets? Yes - that I didn't get a bigger one back then! Having turned 50 this year and got a PM, I figured I'd like to push the boat out a bit further this year. I feel like I've earned it!
