EMI test ordered on Dr Release back to work

EMI testing ordered on Dr Release as terms to return to work. Is employer required to comply and do test?

Cannot find this answer, seem to be getting run around from all sides.

...does an EMI test consist of? I don't believe that there is such a protocol specified.

I cannot see why anyone would want to run such a test - it would hang them out to dry in a court should anything go bad after you passed the test.

I'm not sure of what I would do, given that responsibility as an employer.

You might send "Manaman" a pvt Msg asking how his employer handle his return to work. Cecil worked in industrial plant electrical maintenance.

EMI test ordered on Dr Release back to work

EMI is the electromagnetic interfence caused by equipment in a facility, as I am a maint tech. I need to know what equipment it is safe to be around and dr cannot tell me what my employer has that is and is not safe for me.

Companies do it all the time? But are they required to as I'm not able to return to work yet and feel well enough to return. I just need the test completely by the employer.

I understand, completely...

...I are an Elecktricul Inguneer. Should have told you that up front.

I cannot see an MD trying to tell an industrial firm what you can & cannot do. He/she just is not qualified to make that judgement. Let something go wrong & the MD is hung out to dry. The company can say "He said it was OK." & his mal-practice insurance will have a cow.

The Company should decide what is safe, as the sole decision maker. The PM Mfgr's publish criteria for safety of PM's. The Co can take those criteria & test to them. The MD should butt out.

It is for a company to decide where you can go & what you can do.

Please get to Manaman for his experience w/ a company having a LOT of high (440 V) equipment. He knows it well.

Having been in management in an industrial field (Ammunition manufacture) I have a reasonably decent feel for what all three parties are up against. (You, the MD & your employer.)

I will contact Manaman.

The employer demanded a Full Release for return to work is the reason the dr had to state the EMI test required. I might add, that was AFTER they allowed me to return to work on light duty. Then they demanded full release to allow me to stay working.

Work

I'm in the same boat as you. Electrician + Instrumentation + Millwright. Going round and round with the company even with a release of 100% physically. Went back to work 4-21-14 still no answers.
Got tired of waiting for answers for the COMPANY nurse. I asked for a copy of my work release for my lawyer and they finally got moving! Hmmmmm. Now they want more info from my Doctor. Osun makes a meter for EFI and RFI. Just working on panels and new installs for now and some projects. No trouble shooting.

Back yet?

Are you back to work yet?
They are letting me do a little more at work , but mostly because we are busy.
