Bumpy Road

6 weeks ago today received my PM, everything seems to be going good, and I feel a lot better. I go today for my first Interrogation. Kind of excited about it. Curious on what they say.
Purpose of my post though is, yesterday me and my husband were pulling our camper down a very bumpy road. My heart started to race. I told him that and he looked at me crazy. So I pulled out my monitor that I have on my phone and my HR was 98. I was just sitting in the passenger seat, bouncy with the road. Is that normal, am I crazy, or is that something I need to talk to them about today at my appointment?

RR Adjustment
by Grateful Heart - 2014-06-26 03:06:13
I just recently had to have my RR settings adjusted because my HR would shoot to 125 bpm just by walking.
I believe the adjustments have helped but I'll know more when I am able to test it in about a month or so. I'm limited right now due to a broken bone in my foot. LOL

It sounds as though you have the Rate Response feature of your PM switched on . If your heart rate doesn't increase the way it should when you exercise then the RR feature responds to motion and puts in extra heart beats.
Those bumpy roads may be giving enough motion to your PM to fool it into thinking that you are exercising
At your next PM appt tell them about it and they may decrease the sensitivity of the RR setting.
As to whether you are crazy, or not, only you and your husband know the answer to that one .
Best of luck

Crazy?

I agree with Ian, don't know if you are crazy. However, I had the same problem at first and they made some adjustments. But I still get it a bit at times. Playing golf last night I hit a real bumpy area in my golf cart and felt the PM speed up. But don't worry, no big deal. An adjustment will help.

Well the doctor gave me the 6 week all clear. I was happy about that. They did do some adjustments. She said RR was medium High and she switched it to medium low. She said that should help with bumpy roads. I am pacing 34% top 0% in bottom. I am guessing that is good. She also made some adjustments to help with exercising. Hopefully that helps me get up the hills better. I felt good this morning when I got up. Feels like my Heart is racing a little when I get up and walk around. I will have to watch that.
Thanks for all the replies. This site is the best.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
It Will Come Up During Your Checkup

The PM will let them know everything when it is interrogated so don't worry.
My heart was constantly beating between 100-110 BPM at the beginning. After adjustments, they ultimately put me on a very low dose of a Beta Blocker. Now I have a hard time getting it over 115!
Let us know how the appointment goes. Ask how often you're paced, if you're having an afib episodes, etc.
