You will be fine and this is great for you. I have one too. Could not believe this was happening to me, I am still in shock! But it is keeping me alive and I am here with my family. I am 56 yrs old and a mom of a 15 yr. old and thought I was unstoppable. Well I am still unstoppable, but with a little help. There are days I get depressed, sad, and I cry, But I should cry of joy because God wants me here and he wants you here too. When I left the hospital, finally, feeling better, the doctor said: " Go Home and Enjoy Life". Great advice!!!
Make sure that after you go home if you feel that your heart is pounding a bit harder that you go back and have them "reset" your PM. They can do this from out side and they do not have to even touch your chest. Get some rest, try to take it easy. Slow down for a little bit and you will be fine. God Bless and Good Luck to you!!!! Come to the Pacemaker Club, as this site is a great support tool for you and many others.

It would be helpful

if you fill in your bio. Why are you getting a PM? Sinus issues? AV block? Any meds for heart issues? This info will help us answer your questions.

As far as the recovery, that depends a lot on you and how you heal. There will be some healing time and you'll need to follow your Dr's instructions on arm movement and lifting. Most people are back to their normal activities fairly quickly. You can do a search in the upper right corner of this site for "newbies" or "new" and there is lots of info for you.

This is a great site for help

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
