How Well I remember

Sometime in the spring of 1956, sitting around our room, w/ my two roommates - Joel & BAP, remembering all the memorable events of the past year w/ the words of The Four Lads fresh in our minds. Some pleasant; some not so pleasant. But, all humorous and/or sigificant at the time.
At our 50th reunion, it was a bit more somber. There were ony about 450 of us left, w/ about 250 plus spouses attending. Mary Hopkin & "Those were the days..." is more apropriate. I modified but one word for it to acurately describe the experiences of the 501 who graduated on 3 June 1959 & went forth to face the world. The editor of our 50 year history thought it was so apt that he stuck it in the book.
"Those were the days, my friend,
We thought they'd never end,
We'd sing and dance forever and a day.
We'd live the way we'd choose,
We'd fight & never lose,
Those were the days, my friend,
Those were the days."

our son even likes that song and he is 45. we had the greatest of music and it doesn't look like it will ever be as good as it was. we are having our 50th nursing reunion in the summer in june. a lot of us are still with our husbands then boyfriends from then. it is nice as some of them are still friends. i still think of graduation night and the music as we graduated. that year a business man who ended up being a relative by marriage gave us all new shoes and a 100 dollars for graduation. i spent it all on a an aqua coloured dress for the dance. i wonder why my grandaughter age 16 spends every last cent on clothes. lol some of my classmates tho are not so lucky and have lost mates. thanks for the lovely reminder with that song. jessie
thanks patch

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.

I remember it fondly, and many other of their songs.
