Hi everyone!
Hope you are doing good today. Tuesday I had my 4 month PM anniversary and did my first remote data transmission. I got the results back yesterday and was surprised to see I went from pacing 14.1% in my ventricle to 29.7%. I guess the doctor was right when he told me my heart block could rapidly progress and that's why he wanted to implant the PM as soon as the block was discovered. My report wasn't very detailed and didn't give me my atrial % but last time it was at 1.1%. My battery life dropped from 9.5 years to 8 which really surprised me. It also said "Model DDDR" which I think means mode and I need to call them about that on Monday because last time in the clinic I asked if the rate response was on and she said no because I don't need it so if it is on I want to get it turned off so I can save my battery as much as possible. I do my next one on 9/23 so I will be curious to see my results then. Wow, I really am thankful I got the PM when I did.
Other than that stubborn 10 pounds I gained while recovering that now refuses to budge, I am doing really well.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend ~ I'm off to do some shopping.
Take care,
~Sheila

called PM nurse about rate response

Thank you AngrySparrow1 & Kathy for your comments.
She told me like you did to not worry about the numbers too much especially in my "adjustment period". She said they can vary quite a bit and my heart probably got lazy and that's why I am pacing a lot more. She said it could be that the block has gotten worse but couldn't tell for sure because remote reports are not as detailed (even on their end) as they are when I get it checked in the office. She said this is due to the fact that when you are in the office they can do lots of testing that can't be done remotely.
She said the rate response is NOT on. When she was typing the results on my letter her fingers went too fast and she accidently put the "R" on there. That made me feel better because I wondered how in the heck could that have got turned on when my last report showed it was off and she confirmed the only way it could have changed was for me to come in and have it manually done. That is good because I feel fine when I exercise and my heart has no problems at all keeping up.
I am still learning so much about all of this. This site has been so helpful. Thank you all for the support & knowledge you have given me.
Take care,
~Sheila

means that your Rate Response is turned On.
If your sinus node is working OK then you don't need it. In fact it could cause interference between your sinus node and the PM.
However if you have problems with your sinus node then you need RR turned On. I wouldn't be concerned about the battery life. If you need it you need it.
A lot depends on how you feel especially when you're active.
Good to get it checked
