have dual chamber pacemaker for about 18 months. No cardiac disease of abnormalities except longstanding LBBB. Am scheduled for stress echo tomorrow and not sure why. Have not had this test since pacemaker implant. Low rate was changed from 60 to 70 a month ago and I feel much better. Any ideas why this test not? Trish

I think I get an ECHO every 18 months, maybe twelve months, I'm getting old and can't remember things....
Cardiologist likes to keep up with what is going on with my heart. Plus, he has car payments to make....

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

...do them annually.
I suspect the reason is to find out how well coordinated the ejection function of your ventricles is. Also gives him/her a quick & dirty picture of how well your heart functions physically.
The Echo shows all valve function & leakage, wall thickness, coordination of ejection & fraction of ejection.
