Hi just got a PM installed, I work federal corrections for 20 years and a bit concerned if I will be able to continue my career. Next will my PM set off the metal detector at work I walk through everyday.

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
Depends

Depends upon metal detector.
We've got one guy on the site. Goes through the metal detector at the home airport next to his home. No problem.
Forgot about the PM and went through a metal detector at another airport and all sorts of alarms went off. Then got chewed out because he forgot to tell them about the PM.
In either case, your federal corrections people are going to have to know about the PM. From my side, I'd be more concerned about your safety if the general prison population found out about your PM.
I had to take supplies up to a local, State prison. It's really eye opening to find out the guy standing next to you has killed three people. "Don't worry" he says, "I only get mad at my relatives." "Hmmm" you say, "What if he decides I'm a long lost relative?"
So what if the prison population decides you're the weak link and goes after the PM as a bargaining chip? I'm a lot more concerned about keeping you alive. Since it's a Federal institution there should be a lot of federal guidelines to help you get moved somewhere.
Don't borrow trouble and start thinking the worst. I'm sure you aren't the first person in the system to get a PM. Hopefully they'll have some good options for you.
Keep thinking positive. Hang in there. Life gets better.
